When I installed Wayfinder Maploader on my PC, A service started going bananas with cpu spikes all the time. Svchost - Dcomlaunch/Plugplay to be exact. I havent had time to digg any deeper into this problem yet, but only way to fix it as of now was to roll back to a previous windows configuration. Just sending out a warning, If ur CPU spikes @ 100% after installing Wayfinder maploader, just uninstalling wont fix it, youll need to roll back. Windows does create a roll back for prior to installing this app (fortunatly). But this means I cant have the program on my system I have tried reinstalling it, same thing. So I had to install it, load the maps I wanted for now to my phone, and then do a roll back... hope they can fix this, as Wayfinder is turning out to be a great (and cheap) nav software.Anyone else with a xperia having this problem?

I am sooooo mad. I had the same problem and spent hours on finding out whats wrong with dcomlaunch/plug&play service. The day I installed Wayfinder Maploader I also installed new audio drivers and of course I never assumed that a simple "download maps to mobile phone" app can be the reason. Anyway, in the end I bought a new HDD for backup, reinstalled Vista, etc., took me more than a day, just to get the same problem again while installing all my apps. Glad that I now know how to fix it. Any idea what to do when the restore point thing is not possible? Cause the easiest thing for me would be to fix my old Vista Installation. My phone is a SE W880i. Probably the OS is the reason: I have Vista64, not exactly the most common OS. Concerning network cards, I use wireless via "AVW Fritz! WLAN USB Stick". How about you Vigge?

Im on Vista 32bit. For network I use my Xperia - Bluetooth PAN, My wireless is Broadcom internal. I'll tell u, it took me a while to figure out what was causing plugplay service to go bananas, only way I know of so far to fix this problem is to do the rollback, sry. Wayfinder maploader's way of communicating with you device is the problem here, not the OS. I havent had time to dig any deeper in this matter as I am swamped @ work and I dont use Wayfinder any more, I use Tomtom 7 on my Xperia now. sry I cant be of much help here. Why cant you do a restore? since wayfinder maploader messes with system files, Windows makes a restore point when you install it (thank god). reboot + f8 +repair. fixed. /cheers

I installed the maploader quite a while ago and just coped with the trouble for a few months since I did not have time to investigate. I don't have a restore point that old. Anyway, I am now done reinstalling Vista, migrating my Outlook folders and all that. I'll put a link to this topic on my homepage to increase its rank a bit. Would have helped me a lot if it had been among the first results for a search on dcomlaunch/plugplay.

Yeehaa! I am soooo happy!!! Best news I've seen today. I spent the last 3 days cursing and completely reinstalling windows after I encountered this problem and not finding the cause. Yesterday, I installed the wayfinder junkware, just to give it a try on my new Xperia. Played with it a little, threw it out. Continued to install other software and got kinda upset when the whole Dcomlaunch problem reappeared. I am so extremely happy that the cause has been found. I really tried everything. drove me (and my wife) nuts. I'll happily roll back or reinstall or do whatever. Perhaps we should contact wayfinder first for a solution? Otherwise a class-action lawsuit might be a good idea. Cheers!
