Default iGO8 Working Great on Xperia, Instructions!

Used both resources at XDA and some screwing around (because the discussion at XDA only led to many errors) to get it to work. This guide assumes that you have a version of igo8 already installed on your xperia. No warez allowed!

Ok to make iGO8 work on your xperia all you need to do is:

1. Connect you phone via usb to computer, and navigate to the directory where your installation files are in (your microsd card). Find, cut and Unzip the data.zip file.

2. in the "data" folder go into the folder ui_igo8, you should see various resolutions like 240_320, or 320_320.. etc.

3. download this .rar file : RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

4. unrar it and place the folder "400_240" into that same directory where you saw the other resolutions.

5. re-zip all of the contents of "data" and keep the filename "data.zip"

6. Go into the program files/ igo8 installation directory that is in you phone's storage.

7. you will see a file called "sys.txt" open it and delete all the text in it.

8. paste this into the sys.txt file exactly as you see it:

[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"

[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
minzoom2D=40
show_exit=1
skin="ui_igo8"
resolution_dir="400_240"
vga=1

[rawdisplay]
class="landscape"
highres=1
screen_x=800
screen_y=480

[debug]
skip_eula=1

9. Save the file as the same filenamename sys.txt

10. done, iGO8 should work and look great!

So far it's working fine, and signal takes less than 15 secs to acquire, and the interface looks great and fills up the screen. Also I'm pretty sure the Xperia doesn't have TMC because you can choose to autodetect the settings for the TMC receiver and the software goes through various types of hardware/ com ports and comes up with nothing.

Great instructions!
The first problem I encountered was to figure out what iGO8 was
(Haven't tried this though.)

Default Fatal error occurred in main thread

Hi guys,

I have bought iGO for my old HTC Kaiser. Now I have installed it on my new xperia. Everything works fine except the resolution. I have tried your way to get it work, but i always get a message with "fatal error occurred in main thread". This only happens when I use the 400_240 Resolution.
Has someone a solution?

Regards
Tekk

this fix is ONLY meant for the xperia. Try searching xda I'm sure they have some fix for the kaiser, as that is the most popular phone there.

Where did you purchase it and how much did you pay? It is annoying that you cant find a price on the igo8 website and they do not sell it themselves. You have to go perusing through a distributor's website. Also, can you install the igo8 files onto your own sd card? I hate paying for software and still having to crack it anyway. lol.
