Default Ordered Garmin for my X1

Anyone running it on their X1? I have had Tom Tom on my PDA and hated it . I've seen Garmin units and found their software to be the most intuitive and practical. I plan to load it on my own memory card as it only comes with 2MB (Plan to buy the new 16MG Sanddisk Ultra that was just released at the CES show - does not appear to be out yet)

Yep, I have both TomTom and Garmin Mobile XT installed on my X1. Yeah, I have to say that I agree with you about Garmin's software is more intuitive and practical. Its GUI is a lot easier to interact with and easier to read especially while you are driving. I use MapSource to manage the set of maps and then upload it to the X1 (memory card). It works flawlessly. Also I tried Garmin's TOPO Canada with X1, and it works pretty well. One thing lacking on Garmin is that Tom Tom apparently has more POIs in Canada than Garmin (City Navigator North America NT 2009). It really doesn't bother me that much. Oh, and one cool thing about Garmin, it has Google Address/Business Search capability (requires an internet access) built in so that you can always find a destination, no matter if there isn't an entry in the POI database. I find it very useful!

May I ask an obvious question?

Since I've never used any navigation on phone,
How is that: I just install Garmin software on my X1 and use it based on GPS chips on my device, so X1 is my only GPS device?

Or do I have to use the GPS receiver or any other device besides X1?

The X1 is all you need, no other stuff besides software is necessary. Try out Google Maps or Live mobile, those both offer routing, just from a map view (not sue about live on tha tone)

Just got mine and installed it - great application. Have not used it other than to see if it sync'd and found my house. Will use it for travel as my cars all have built in nav

I ordered a Sandisk Ultra 8GB SD card from Amazon (great price) and followed the instructions from this site: Using Garmin Mobile XT on your own BIGGER microSD card. - Samsung - Wireless Forums from AT&T and it is working perfectly

BTW it is best to do a google search for: garmin_kgen_1.5 rather than use the link provided on that website.
