Very informative/educative posts JKingGrim. Thanks. I know it's a little late, haven't been checking this forum for a while. News about the X1 is completely dying out. It's like this one million dollar baby is dying inside the womb.

Kind of a shame that decision Google made about singletasking. If you look at the hardware that the devices of the top-end smartphone/PDA market segment are packing nowadays, I think it's really rapidly developing towards true pocket PC's. And then multitasking is just what you need I would say.

But I though Android was linux based, open source, that means hurray because it's just a matter of time before the enthusiast supporters that want to stretch the capabilities of Android and their device to the limits will make a modification/extension/whatever that allows multitasking, right? Or is it verboten to modify the kernel to such an extend? That would be kind of Microsoft like.

Thanks Felix. Well that definitely is a redeeming quality of Android. It is open source and you are free to do with it what you will. Though multitasking may be difficult to implement as it may require a change in the fundamental design of the OS, it is entirely possible.

On the X1, no news is not exactly bad news. As far as I see it, until we hear otherwise it is on track for a september, possibly earlier release.
