You're right man, I was a little overexcited! I do still understand that you might not have much time. Today is actually the first day of July that I've had to do what I want. Summer vacation my *** .

You're also right about the perfect model. The Diamond and Pro may have a flashier OS that rivals the iPhone more, but the X1's got some pretty sweet things going for it like the arc slider and high-res screen.

@Metallic - Aren't you coming from an iPhone? Did you have a sudden change of heart about on-screen keyboards or just a new found love ?

The screens look like they have been scaled down from the original size of 800x480. Notice how solid lines that should be black are gray due to interpolation.

How did you come across this device? Can you post photos of the device? Also, how did you create a custom ROM? Did you extract the ROM from the device and use a kitchen to modify it? Unless your ROM is made from the original xperia ROM it will not work. The correct drivers and configuration are needed. Then once you have a ROM, it must be signed in order for the bootloader to accept it. To get around this, you need a hacked bootloader (hard spl). This is no easy task. You will need help from the xda developers. And without those geniuses having the phones themselves, they will not be able to do it. The phone needs to be released before this progress can be made. They have already hacked the touch daimond though, so once it is released it shouldnt be long. Can you give details on your device and how you came across it?

As far as X1 vs diamond, pro omina ect here are the benifits:

Wide screen: (Omina also has this, but lower resolution) Wider is more screen real estate. Everything like browsing and remote desktop benefits.

High resolution: (Diamond and pro have this, but not wide) High resolution means sharper text and pictures. Some may not really see this as a benifit, but I have good eyes and can read small text. I will probably be able to read web pages in opera mobile 9.5 without zooming in. When using remote desktop, I won't have to use my pc at such low reolution and there will be a lot less panning around.

3.5 mm jack: Nuff said.

Arc Slider with QWERTY: (Pro has a QWERTY, though the sliding motion is not quite as sexy ) Yup.

528 mhz 65nm proc: What is the speed of the others? Do they also have the Qualcomm chip with 65nm tech? I think both HTC devices do.

1500 mah battery (I think): Combined with 65nm tech means superior battery life. Diamond has 65nm proc, but only 900mah.

256mb RAM: Not having enough RAM kills a WM device. Trust me. I had a Mogul (64mb RAM). I wanted to flush it down a toilet. I now have a Tilt (128mb RAM). It is great.

Lastly, the Xperia is just damn sexy lookin. In black of course.

Yes I am coming from an iphone, and no I hate the on-screen keyboards, I can type fast on them but I just hated the flat feel and no physical response, so I knew I wasn't going to stay with the iphone for too long, the iphone OS isn't as dazzling as it sounds, the fact that it can run one app at a time is total demolish to anyone who likes to have some sort of multitasking, not just stuck to one single application at a time.

Also the OS of the iphone is just a FRONT, there is nothing behind what you see, I like having menus and sub menus and "right click" options to copy, move, paste.... where the hell is all that, I didn't feel home at all with the iphone, I'd much rather have a phone that has great functionality than just great looks, so I waved good bye and I currently own a Blackjack ll, which is very good phone over all, I love the fact that when your in the desktop, you can press some letters and the contacts comes up.

If... and IF i say SE decides to release this for 600-ish... it will be a major possibility for me to buy it, other than that price they can go to hell, since when smart phones became so expensive for no reason... where the hell is the compitition!

@ Metallic - I feel the same! I really want the full keyboard, but if the price is a penny over 700, I'm getting a Touch Diamond for just about 600. I could deal with T9 for having nearly the same technical specs sans the keyboard.

Unless... I can sell my Zune for $200, then I'd buy the X1 for >$800 and slap in an 8/16 GB memory card (Whichever is the best deal). I don't understand why the hell we have to pay so much for these things! Maybe if more people said "screw the RAZR, I want something that can do it all", we'd be in better shape. But of course some people like it the other way.

@ All - Here's a new Xperia related page I've found in case you haven't seen it. It's a camera shootout between the Touch Diamond & Pro, Omnia and Xperia.

I would sell my zune 80 if a 64gb memory stick exists... I really like the Xperia, seems like a top notch phone, the camera shots are showing the clarity of the 5mp on the Samsung. But I'm happy with the 3.2 mp and the led light... woulda been nicer if it was a real flash. Damn it I really hope they show something about it on tuesday! It's sony's E3 conference.

Why do the X1 pics look crap? Is that cos of the rom ( its not the latest). They hardly have any colour in them. How could the rom affect the camera anyway, except for the interface of course.

sometimes ROM or, simply put, firmware can change, which towards the improvement, the speed or quality of the machine itself.
