Default Hardware Graphics Acclerator?

So will there be such a thing? I remember one of the videos saying that it would have an ATI chipset but judging from the video of the sluggish panels interface, I don't know if they have implemented it yet. Also I remember some incidents with a certain HTC device that did not ship with a graphics driver, thus rendering the chipset useless. Can anyone elaborate on the situation?

That's an interesting question but i'm quite confident Sony will do all it can to elaborate the entertainment side of the Xperia correctly because entertainment is the core work of Sony and they are claiming the X-1 will be the flagship of SonyEricsson so they can't screw it on this side.

I understand there were plans to, but as of now one of the last previews I read on the net (Pocket PC Mag) was that they were trying but it was NOT assured. That was a while ago though.

No idea if Qualcomm's pricing structure is the cause or something else.

AMD/ATI was pushing their mobile chipset pretty hard so I would think that the SDKs are ready to go along time ago. It shouldn't be development, so it must be financial.

I guess once the reviews start pouring in, we will know for sure.

Everyone here have high hopes for this phone, hopefully it will be the first (PPC) to really go all the way.

Default Check the white paper

If you take a look at the white paper SE published on page 4, you'll see one of the main features mentioned to be "HW 3D Graphics". 3D hardware accelleration won't be available for java (games) though (also see white paper).
I didnt find it to be more specific on that though.

I have also read many reviews and interviews and has also heard the ATI chipset being mentioned, it is true that we do not know what the full spec will be until the beast is launched (11 days and closing).

I did also read that they were calling it a gaming revolution for phones or something similar which to me thinks that the chip is in there.

I'm not sure how the Java platform integrates/plugs into the OS it would be silly if it didn't call the driver, maybe it will be a software update later on, I've never owned a WM OS so I dunno but I'm pretty sure with or without it with 384MB of RAM a 528MHz CPU (even if it is RISC) should create a good game graphics.

Remember a lot of processing power is being used on the interface, when the game is playing it will be turned off so it will be free for our game
