Thumbs down Branding

Just looked up the updated pages of the big four (carriers) in Germany to see if they already added the X1and found that:

Handy Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 mit Vertrag und ohne Vertrag bei T-Mobile

That's really .... horrible. How can anyone desecrate a panel like that. I can only hope that the other carriers do not follow up with something similar.

*speechless*

Ok that panel looked a bit 'weird'. My days of getting a branded phone are way over.

OMG!! Panels are an excellent way for networks to completely brand the X1 when you buy from them, including adding apps and channels that link to their data services etc.

Can networks lock down panels such that they cannot be removed?

I don't like this. Maybe this is what's delaying the release of the X1 as networks try to get their branded panels working.

100% second your opinion. Because maybe you and me will figure a way to remove them . But the other millions of people will have no idea.

An alert should be sounded in xda-developers.com!! Perhaps someone can find a way to unlock panels...

Edit - I have started a new thread in xda-developers.com in the SE Xperia X1 forum. Hope we can get some good discussions and solutions going there.

question: if you do take the branded stuff off, does the service built in IM and whatnot still work?

Whoa, slow down. No one ever said they were locked. Just speculation.
