Default iPhone Apps and the Xperia

I've noticed now more and more apps are being made for the iPhone exclusively. Google Earth for the iPhone was recently released and apparently has more features then that of it's PC counterpart. Here in Australia, my bank has just released a Mobile Banking application just for the iPhone.

My question is, do you think the Xperia will get that sort of love with it's Panel Application? Or even WM6 in general? I see alot of apps out for WM, but nothing as exclusive or as 'shiny' as those being written for the iPhone.

iPhone, being the current darlings of the fad sphere, will garner the attention so long as its strong sales continue, and Apple has cleverly targetted the sweet mass market segment, so development will be strong for some time to come. And coming from Apple, it will always have that cool factor and look.

Nonetheless, Windows Mobile does have a strong developer following, and judging from the activities in xda-developers - Xda-developers, development for Panels and WVGA applications seem to be gaining strong support. So long as SE continue to develop and support the Panels SDK, more developers will come up with interesting ideas.

Other similar devices like HTC Touch Pro and Touch HD will only add to more support for WVGA applications.

Xperia panels won't receive half as much attention as iPhone crap, sadly.

Mostly because the Xperia and the iPhone aren't really competitors, they are aimed at different user groups and unfortunately, the Xperia's consumer base is significantly smaller.

yeah, iphone was built for the "lets have fun but i have to work some" population. most apps designed for iphone are games or random stuff nobody really needs. if the xperia only had some more advertising with how fun it could be, then im pretty sure xperia would beat out the iphone easily.

That depends on how low the Xperia's price tag will drop, I assume ;p

You don't need the panels to add cool apps. They are just a nice addition.

There are tons of sites with all kinds of WinMo programs, from freeware to stuff to buy.

PocketPCFreeware

is a good starting point. Have fun!
