this guy bought an x1i from expansys. he's in the US and is using it on T-mobile. he also shows the bands listed on the phone. check it out:

Just talked to a Rep in Expansys UK. He stated " we understand the frustration with the 3G_850 BAND V. We are trying to get an answer from the OEM and/or ODM to confirm that the 3G(850+1900) bands and RADIO actualy do what they are supposed to do; we might have the answer by tomorrow." The fact that the right bands appear in the settings, does not mean it can be activated as the UMTS RADIO must be compatible as well.

I appreciate a company that understands the needs and wants of the customer ( even if the customer is located across the atlantic.)
