Hey all...I can't stand it...am ready to get this phone. I just spoke with a guy from Smart Mobile Gadgets - Best Prices for Unlocked PDA & Mobile Phones and he said this phone is in stock, only the black one, which is cool, that's the one I prefer. He said his company is in California and he said they've already sold something like 1200 phones. The price tag is $999.00 - *ouch*. Even though I've read that on Nov. 4th it will be announced when the phone will be available in the U.S., the guy I spoke with said it won't actually be released in the U.S. until June/July of next year. Oh, how impatient I am. I can't help but wondering if the price tag will drop by the time it hits the states, as most of the higher end smartphones are currently selling for ~ $500. He did say the phone is the same phone that will be released in the U.S. and it will work on the AT&T network. His website lists the compatible & non-compatible U.S. carriers. He told me they offer a 1 year warranty with (of course) the typical option for a 2 or 3 yr. warranty. It all does sound on the up and up. I'm just ancy about ordering over the phone/online, especially when I haven't even actually held the product ~ but I've watched a gazillion videos by now. I asked him about their return policy, he told me 7 days.

Soooooooo....does it sound all good? Or am I taking a major chance here? Need some guidance please...and if anyone has ordered their phone for a lesser price, that would be good to know, too. Thanks guys!

i think the phone coming to the US in june/july is a lie. i think they just want u to order the phone from them.

Just wait until the 4th of November when the official release date is announced, if it's not soon enough, just order a european Xperia?

I agree with Tranquillity... in fact that ios exactly what I am gonna do as well. Wait for nov 3rd/4th news and then make my move. So just hold ur horses for another day or two ... ;-)

The suspense.. So much is riding on the 4th of Nov. The elections.. The Xperia X1.. This whole year has been leading to that day... lol

yeah, I think you guys are right. I was also thinking that the guy said that to up my sense of urgency, which doesn't need any help right now, lol. I saw online (site ???) just a bit ago that they will announce TOMORROW - Nov. 3rd....so I will wait. Here's another question....the one in the UK is the X1i and the X1a is for the U.S. I didn't think to ask the guy in CA which one he had, cuz I didn't know about that then. I read some posts that the X1i will work on 3G & some posts where no one is really sure, and are the keyboards the same? I'd like to know in case I have to get rid of these ants in my pants and order the thing if the U.S. release date really is months away.

Sorry, Walter...my bad. You're right, it's the 3rd, not the 4th. I guess everything is happening on the 4th...my mom's birthday, election, FL Ironman, & somehow I lumped my Xperia-to-be in with the rest, lol. Yay ~ 24 hours earlier...think there'll be a post somewhere right after midnight? ...the clock is ticking!

with the U.S version being a bit watered down, doesnt that mean that it should be a little bit cheaper? (not a significant amount)

Let's hope it's a bit cheaper. Let's also hope it's a bit more available! SE's UK online store only has the option to preorder still... My hope it that when it's released (soon... please...) it will be available. i mean AVAILABLE! In large quantities. As in, I'm not going to have to wait over a month from "release date" to be able to get one in my hot little hands, or order it online from a retailer who has none in stock but claims to have "a few" of them in the warehouse. In only a few hours we'll know... hopefully. unless SE balks. again.
