Default X1 vs HTC Touch Pro?

Well, my Sprint contract is up next week so its time to either defecate or get off the pot. I've been lusting after the X1 since it was announced last spring, but now I'm starting to have second thoughts. Contributing factors (in comparison to the Touch pro) are:

$800 vs $300 purchase price delta
$30 vs $15 /mo data price delta
Some postings here about marginal signal strength performance on the X1

My biggest single reason for wanting the X1 was the higher screen resolution, but I'm starting to wonder whether that 160 pixel-wide strip down the right side is worth an extra $860 total cost over the next 2 years. And of course, if the radio performance is bad enough that I can't use it in margin areas, all the other features are pretty useless.

I also think I'd be happier with the Xperia keyboard, but I don't think I'll know that for sure until I try them side-by side.

Right now, my plan is to try to find a Best Buy that has them both so I can play for a while, but if anyone else has been down this road, I'd be interested in hearing what they have to say, especially if there are any other trade-offs you think I'm missing.

Its up to you mate but decide against the X1 and you will regret it. X1, I phone or the google G1 are probably best phones on the market, i have gone for X1 and have not regretted it at all. As i am aware all I phone users are dissapointed with the device as for G1 we wait for news.

For every feature you see, some are saying "it is working great" and others saying "doesn't work" As you say best way is try them both. If you try them in the store for a few mintes you will never really know for sure. (best buy normally only have "Dummies" (both devices and employees)

If you are in USA try AT&T 30 day return policy. Try the Fuze for 30 days return it (pay $25 re-stocking) and then try the Xperia, chances are that those things that you love like the superb screen, better responsive touch, premium construction, and the better spaced keyboard, longer life battery, will make you a proud owner.
(warning: this is my biased opinion)
