| Which takes up more power? 1. Having the backlight in this dim mode which the X1 goes to after a while and keeping it on for say, 1 hour? 2. Pressing the power button to make the phone go into sleep mode, and then pressing it again to revive it, and repeating this action say every 5 min, for 1 hour?

| Why do you ask that? Seems quite unnecessary to me. I can't tell you for sure which consumes more power, but it should be option 2, where you only have the screen on for like one second or so. But isn't option 2 bad for the screen? On and off that often sounds bad. |

| I would recommend you give S2U2 a try. It gives you an iPhone-like screen lock (hence slide 2 unlock 2), and as extra bonus, you can set the backlight to completely switch off after a period of idle-time, and you can also show useful information on the lock screen like calendar entries, SMS notification, call notifications. And it is free (donate-ware), and the latest version handles WVGA and Portrait-Landscape rotation too. Best of all, because I can switch off the backlight completely, it helps to save battery power. To see the screen, I only need to press the d-pad once to see the status, and if I want to take further action, slide the unlock slider. Otherwise, leave it and the backlight switches off. |
