| Haven't seen this thread on this website (I've seen it on others though) and I think everyone should know about it. There is this problem that the bluetooth connection drops when not used and having Wifi enabled. Wifi will go down automatically to preserve power when the phone goes in standby. But due to a bug, bluetooth will go down too. If Wifi is not enabled, bluetooth will stay active. I contacted SE support and they said that this is a power saving thing and that I must set my phone to not go to standby to solve it... Yeah right... if I want my battery drained in 2 hours, I'll do it another way. Actually, their answer really sucks because when I do keep my bluetooth up (by not enabling wifi), my battery isn't at all drained at the end of the day (still full bar on a low-usage day, only one call in the car or so), so there really is no need to disable bluetooth to preserve battery. So my current sollution is to disable wifi all the time and only enable it when I really need it, but as you all understand, this is a hassle. Even worse is that when you have enabled wifi for a while and disable it, bluetooth seems to be still working but actually isn't. You need to disable and re-enable bluetooth. Notice how long it takes to disable the bluetooth then (because it probably already is while he thinks it isn't). I read about someone else contacting SE support in his own country and getting the answer that the problem will be solved in a next update. Some people even state that upgrading their phone (with the same firmware version) solved the problem but on my phone, upgrading the firmware didn't help. When you run the update program, it states that the firmware is up to date. Those people that say it solved the problem for them say that the software always says that. Has anyone else solved the problem already and is it by doing something totally different than upgrading the firmware to the same version? Or even better: can someone tell me how I can be notified that there really is a new firmware for my X1 because checking it regularly is really a pain in the *** (you need to reset your X1 into upgrade-mode, so your phone doesn't work at that moment, and after checking, you need to reboot). | Hello Scippie, I don't have a solution for you, but I would like to add that I am experiencing the same issues with bluetooth intermittently disconnecting bluetooth devices (headset). Interestingly, this seems to happen to me even when I have wifi disabled. When my headset does connect within active call it sometimes only stays connected for a matter of seconds before disconnecting again and requring me to press the connect button on the headset to reconnect. Once the headset reconnects it seems like it stays connected indefinately during the active call. If you do discover a solution please do post a reply, I am sure there are many of us experiencing the same issue. Thanks Jay PS: I am using a Jawbone II headset |

| For me, I don't see this as a big problem as I have already gotten into the habit of switching on Wifi only when I need it, and then switching it off immediately after that. Wifi is a big power consumer and should never be on all the time in a mobile device. I do it this way with my P1i and am doing the same with my X1. With that, I've not had that kind of bluetooth shutting down issue. Besides, I only use bluetooth during my commutes on work days, and during weekends, it can stay on for the whole day when I need to. I use the HBH-DS980 bluetooth headset with my X1. |

(with standby and turning on I mean of course pushing the screen on/off button) So it's not really a waste of battery to turn on wifi. I'm glad for you that you don't have the BT-problem, but when I turn wifi on and off manually, my BT is dead too, but the device doesn't know it (you find out yourself when BT doesn't seem to work while the BT icon is still on screen). |

Maybe you should try upgrading the firmware with the software you can download on the X1 website? The tool will tell you that you already have the latest firmware but you should continue anyway. But before you do, make sure you backup everything in main memory. All contacts/calendar items/stuff you put on main memory will be cleared after an upgrade. |

| Hey Scippie, I did try to update the firmware using the SE Utility a few weeks ago, it said that I already had the latest version of the software. My handset is a Vodafone UK branded handset does the utility only update SE offline handsets which have not had network branding applied? Regards Jay |
