You can guess what happened to me yesterday... While sitting down, my X1 got stuck between my pants and my sweater and bam... there it went, straight down the toilet. I've always been very careful with my phones, and especially this one as it was very expensive opposed to all my previous ones. It started making funny noises (like buttons were pushed) and the light flashed continuously. I turned it off immediately, held it in front of an air conditioner (to dehydrate), held it in front of a hot heater, blew inside every hole I could find with an air-spray-can and left if for the night. This morning, everything worked fine again, except for the light, it kept shining again. After a couple of hours of diminishing, the light is now almost completely off. It still works perfectly when turned on in the camera. So I really hope my phone won't die, it looks like it will fully recover from the incident, but you never know. I think it's good that the toilet was clean at that time so it was clear water which in definition does not hurt electronics. Of course you can never guarantee that there won't be any short-circuit which damages the hardware anyway. Please, all, give me a thumbs up so that my phone will continue to work!

Try this on for size: my ex-roomie has a blackberry curve, and dropped it in a urinal. It didn't power off, but a few days later a few of the keys stopped working (he dried it post drop). He took it back to the store, they checked, saw that the water indicator went off, and said sorry. This is when I come in. I looked at it, opened the back, and saw that the water indicator was on the battery, not on the actual body of the phone. We took the battery from a friend's, stuck it inside, took it back to the store, and they checked, saw the indicator was fine, and overnighted him a brand new one. I don't know where the water indicator is on an x1 (and don't want to open mine up), but it's worth checking out to see if a new battery would suffice to send it in and say that the light stopped working. Where is the indicator (likely a red spot on the inside, now that it's (probably) been exposed to water.

So it went down the toilet about less than a year ago, it fell down the stairs from the 2nd floor, it fell down multiple times while running but today it fell only from knee high and... byebye Xperia. You have given me lots of fun. I have never abused my cell phones, I don't understand why every bad luck came to this phone and I hope my next phone won't have to go through all this. My next phone, however, will be the HTC Touch Pro 2. I think I should have bought that one instead of the Xperia in the first place. Good luck with your Xperia's!
