check out this video: http://www.theunwired.net/?item=vide...peria-x1-built It is using a much more recent ROM update. The phone in the webcast is using an older ROM that doesn't have all of the latest and greatest speed fixes. Also, i believe that this guy has been using that phone for the last 7 months and if that's the case then that phone might only have 256M of RAM vs 384M in the later hardware revisions.

i would assume the same too...but judging by the speed and responsiveness (or lack there of) of his phone, I can't help but think that he has an older version. Especially in comparison to the link that i pasted above and in bengalboy.com's review of the latest rom.

I think we need to differentiate whether it is the UI that is fast (while the apps and stuff are loading in the background), or the whole machine itself is fast or slow. This makes a great significance meaning if they have put the UI on higher priority than apps and other processes, the machine can appear to be very responsive and snappy, but cannot accept usable input until the apps and processes catches up with the UI. I think the iPhone does a bit of this, just so to get wows from users. Apple knows so well how important first impressions and eye candy are.... Real world testing is much needed.
