Default Question about websites

Hey new here, got my xperia the start of the week and i love it XD

question tho, since my old phone was about 2+ years old the tech in modern phones has got me confused :P

basically when my phone connects to "Contract Internet" and it gets either the 3G or the HSDPA connection, the websites aren't like id see on the internet (cue audible sigh)...silly quesiton but why is that? for example, if im connected to wi-fi my websites are fine (need to install flash, but other than that they're fine.....wish the signal was better) but on 3g/HSDPA the sites arent

also anyone know how to remove the content filter on vodafone? tried to visit mingleville on my phone and it said no :'<

thanks XD

No answer to your question but I wanted to understand what you are saying. Are you saying that when you visit websites through 3G/HSDPA you get the "mobile internet", i.e. sites basically have text and almost no pictures? For example, instead of seeing CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News you instead get CNN ? But when you visit sites on your Wifi, you get the "full internet" or how you would see it on your desktop computer with all the ads, pictures, animation, etc.

i can see the answer on the horizon, and its painfully simple =[

its the mobile web verison of the site, taking out un-neccessary content to save space and to make it faster

eesh....if im right im gonna slap myself, i got a huntch that its right....then again im used to oldschool WAP before all this 3G / HSDPA nonsense :P

Isn't it possible to go into the website and choose the full html version? There should be an option on the page itself. Otherwise, you can try changing your user agent to something other than mobile opera (haven't experimented with this).

well, I notice that if you go to facebook full site, it needs to download some 4mb of data to display properly (at least for my account).

Leastwise to say, this does not help ensure that the X1 is stable. but then at least it could load it, I could barely do this even that with my P1i.

Speed and convenience wise, use the WAP sites, if you have time to kill, then use the full sites.

Good websites like Google and such can tell when your using a mobile for your internet and will automatically load up the mobile version of that site (notice the m. instead of www. prefix). Most of these sites should then give you the option to load the desktop version somewhere on the site. I guess you might be able to find a program that will make the sites think your using a desktop connection, but I don't see how this would be helpful unless you had a good data plan. Personally in Australia, data is like gold.
