| You don't need a Wi-Fi or GPRS data connection if you use GPS, only if you use aGPS. That is of course if you have a program that can use the data recieved by the GPS, and have maps to show the information on. Google Maps can use the data, but it has all it's maps on the Internet, so for that you need a Wi-Fi or GPRS data connection. On one of the CDs you got with the phone, there is a program called Wayfinder. You can install that one on your memory card and then it should work without any Wi-Fi or GPRS data connection. I haven't tried this, but if you search the forum there is some information on how to get other GPS-programs working. |

| Greetings, I’ve installed Garmin XT recently. I think it’s pretty good. It took the same route as I usually take to get home (fastest and least traffic), so I recon that’s pretty smart! It calls out the voice commands too, all I think it’s worth the install. I have the maps for Europe and a few other places. As the maps are installed, so you don’t need to connect to the internet (as Carlin mentioned); you just find your destination and drive (it also gives a near accurate indication of your current speed too). There is a component that you install on your PC, (you have to use this to transfer the maps to your X1) you can use it plot routes etc, etc.
