Default GPS and 3G, Wifi

As fas as I know in order to use wayfinder you must have 3G or wifi connection.

Are there any programs that do not need these connections and work on its own?

Let me know~

I would go with Garmin Mobile XT or TomTom Navigator. They don't require the internet connection since they provide their own maps with the program. I'm sure there are more programs, that don't require the internet connection, out there.

I have been thinking about this issue, too. TomTom and Garmin Mobile XT are supposed to be good programs, but they have proprietary microSD cards which must reside in your phone. It would require a hack to put their maps onto your own card which I am not willing to do. Also, it constrains your ability to put lots of photos/music on your own card. It is not cool to be transferring those tiny cards in & out of the phone.

I have been told that Copilot 7, though it also ships with a card, allows you to transfer their maps to your own card. I have also been told that mgmaps.com has maps that can be copied wherever you like. I intend to try this when I have a free moment.

Don't forget to go to Programs>QuickGPS to download 7 days of satellite positions. This will allow your GPS chip to locate signals faster and should be done weekly. Some file structures place QuickGPS slightly differently.

TomTom works fine here. Getting the maps off the original SD Card isn't that much of a hack and if you bought the thing, why on earth would it be illegal to put them on your own card instead of the original...

BTW TomTom is very good, even the voice is the same as in the car version!
