I guess what the announcement is may also be saying is that countries like North America, China, Australia and Russia may require more negotiations with Telco carriers who sell the devices along with their contracts. I don't think it would be hardware or software issues (ie RF, languages) as HTC would also have these things pretty well resolved by now.

Been into Vodafone today - they are showing it as released on 05 Oct 08, in the UK.

Anyone any idea if O2 will be carrying it, and when? I realise its not likely to be called a Sony Ericsson, likely an XDA tag. However, I DO hear that they won't be carryin the N96, as iPhone sales are poor, so they need to shift a load of them as they're losing money on them at the mo, so I'm not sure they'll carry the X1.

BTW, the bloke in the shop referred to it as the SEXi (Sony Ericsson X1)

EDIT:- Any idea if 3 Network will be carrying them, as their price / minute are brilliant?

Not sure if O2 Germany has the same structure as O2 UK but I was able to order my phone today. I will receive it at calendar week 43 - and according to the service guy will be one of the first of their customers to have it.

No namechange, not certain with the branding.

Danny

PS: ... and I forgot to order a specific colour *wails*
