XPERIA X1a Now Available for Pre-order

Ok US folks, true to their word, Sony Stlye is now showing the XPERIA X1 (X1a) now available for pre-order. It is interesting however that only the silver model is available. It's $799.99 with free shipping and is indicated that the in will be available "on or about 11/21/2008" which is a week early from "Black Friday" to I guess give leeway for shipping. Others have also reported that J&R is also showing the XPERIA X1a (also silver only) available for pre-order. If you find other online stores listing the XPERIA X1a, provide a link in the comments so we can add it to the article.

The pictures put up on the sony style site, they look nothing like the actual phone... The chrome around the sides of the phone are hardly visible... the pics are graphically created ones i guess... X1 looks so much more hotter in person. Even the pics of the black phone, which sony had put up in sonyercisson.com, look nothing like black, but rather a dullish grey... will this not affect sales? Because X1 is supposed to be the sexiest looking phone out there, and i agree, but SE is not putting in an effort to get all the geeks to drool over it.

Alright, here's my question. If I were to preorder here, a) could I get a warranty, and b) can I get insurance on it from someone like AT&T (guessing not...)

Cause for $800, there's no way I could get this without a long warranty and/or insurance so if I even get a scratch on it, I can get it replaced.

If you buy it for use within the USA, I am sure it has at least a one year limited manufacturers warranty. However, AT&T will NOT offer you insurance on this device because they aren't ranging it. I'm sure there are 3rd parties who offer this type of service. Some credit card companies even offer electronic protection warranties as well.

I preordered mine this morning from Sony Style Family Center (discount). Can't wait for it.

I just got an email from Sony Style that my X1a has been shipped today via FedEX. I should get it tomorrow in time for the holidays.
