Default stupid regional settings

Anyone know of a way to generate an NLS file for English (HK SAR)?

This is the reason why my stupid area codes weren't working, because I had my X1 set to English (United States).

This is stupidly fustrating...

yeah well, they don't have english (Hong kong) on the list. And given that I can't read or write chinese, english is kinda necessary.

However, because so many things are reliant on the regional settings, changing it to Chinese (Hong Kong) really screws me up. I hate having to google in chinese, and there is no way to default it back to english.

I think google looks at the IP, not the setting on your system, I have my laptop set to USA and when in HK, Google goes to HK google too, I hate it as well.
You can have settings in google, set it to always search in English.
As long as you keep the cookie, google remebers, I think.

When you change to Chnese(HK) does all the menus change to chinese too?
Or just the Date formats, etc etc change?

I use English (Australia) as it is closest to what we really need to use for date, currency and number formats.

bloob,

Can you show me what you have as entries in your registry for

HKCU\ControlPanel\Dial\Locations

all 3 keys.

The thing is, changing the regional settings back to HK helped solve my area code problem.

You need a registry viewer like resco to open up the registry on your x1

Interesting....

So being the stubborn person that I am, I did a few tests.

The test is basically change the regional settings to different english areas to see how this will affect the X1.

English (Canada) - area code screws up on receiving incoming phone calls
English (United States) - area code screws up on receiving incoming phone calls
English (Australia) - everything is peachy (thanks bloob)
English (United Kingdom) - everything is peachy

I'm just at a loss for words on why WM6.1 is like this....and something so fundamental for a phone too....
