Release date: 24th of September in Netherlands

Well, some should think, again a stupid rumour. Well, yeah maybe it is, but I would bet at this date

On the Dutch tech forum gathering.tweakers.net some users have asked for release dates on the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 for some time. Usualy there was no date given, or only "week 44" as final release date.

But now, since yesterday both T-Mobile (operator) and T for Telecom (store) were saying that the release date would be 24th of September if SE doesnt find major problems in their software.

Also, another nasty hint from SE is the date in the calendar on the sceenshots. Yes, it is showing the 24th of September 2008:

So I'm pretty sure 24th of September it is. That's probably the release date for Europe. Don't know about the rest of the world. The USA might wait longer because of laws and that sort of legal stuff.

hope you're right personaly i would suspect that a store and a operator mail answer would be more out of the loop then the internet but

Well, not mail. As what I see:

1. Customer asking in the shop directly to an employee of that shop
2. An employee of that shop confirming this date on the forum
3. One of the forum users his brother that works at the T Mobile NL Headquaters also confirms this date.

Also this shop is one of the largest over here. So they get informed by SE to inform their customers. This is a little different compared to webshops that are looking for some people that are pre-ordering for the premium price

So in my eyes it is a good source. I can not think of any other case. SE should have informed the shops and operators.

I know how GoT (short for gathering.tweakers.net) can be with people stating release dates from their brothers, cousin, neighbours who work in stores or the reputation of the store clerk aren't that good when it comes to release dates, but I really want to believe it. I need to cause the temptation of the HTC Touch Pro just got bigger (available in Holland from today) and I don't know how long I can hold on to that Erricson feeling.

SE is going loose a lot of consumers when the Touch Pro starts to really hit the market (2-3 weeks after it is first available)

Well the thing is that "store clerks" always said that the SEX1 would be released in or before week 44, so the end of October. They never had a better date and this was all they could tell.

So at once, this week, they are telling the 24th of September. So they must have new information as they don't say "week 44". It was asked at the same store.

Well, you could run to the t for telecom yourself if you don't believe it

Probably I will ask them tomorrow in my city.

Given all the other hints, I think there's some truth in the week 44 thing, but just to be picky (yes I tend to be difficult ), in the picture of the product, the X1 still has a Windows button and not the X Panel button. How long ago was the picture made, I wonder?

The Dutch version wil be available mid-October. Th einternational version is said to be released at the end of September. The Dutch version will be released a few weeks later because the interface had to be translated.

We now know it isn't going to be the 24th, but 30 september for Germany, UK and Sweden...
I'm hoping the X1 will be released in Netherlands and Flanders (given the translation argument) close to 17 October... That's the date I can get a new contract!
But isn't it a bit weird they can translate from English in German and Swedish, but not other (Western) EU country's?
