here is a website with a map showing 1900 covered areas:

http://www.gsmworld.com/cgi-bin/ni_map.pl?cc=us&net=b3

where i live it seems that 1900 is the only network in my area.
SCtud's link only list the gsm bands not the 3G ones

I need to make a web page so that I can just post a link rather than explaining this every time. lol. The version of the qualcomm chipset that supports recording h.264 in VGA infringes on broadcomm patents and cannot be sold in the US. Qualcomm has a US version of the chipset with the infringing technologies removed.

2. the Xperia has 2 versions, X1a and X1i. Both have tri-band HSPA. The US version (X1a) should have the 850/1900/2100 MHz. And the international version (X1i) should have the 900/1900/2100 Mhz. Both versions are quad band EDGE. In the US, we have 850 and 1900, under AT&T. What this means (and i could be mistaken) is you'd get normal phone and EDGE reception. BUT, when you use the fast internet, 3G, you'd only be supported in areas where there are 1900Mhz. This might not be an issue depending on where you live.

For myself, I am going to take a leap and go with the UK version because I mainly use EDGE to keep my battery alive longer and only hop on the 3G when I need to. So it shouldn't be a big deal.

Just my $0.02.

So 3g will work in the US as long as you have coverage with the UK version right?

just looked at bengal boy's review who i assume is using the international version (X1i), and it shows 1900+850 for UMTS and not 1900+900?

What about US 3G support for T-Mobile? Can anyone shed some light?

Default ??question??

question? I go back and forth between Miami, FL and Orlando, FL (they both get the "Best Coverage" and "3G coverage", according to AT&T's Coverage Map ; If I were to purchase the International version (X1i), wouldnt i have the best of both worlds? with 3G and 30 fps?

AS long as the area has support for the 1900mhz 3g band, then yes you would have the best of both worlds. Which is something I'm gonna try and bank on myself.

I emailed and called SE yesterday to see what was the difference about the US and UK version and this was what i got.

Q - I have a question concerning the Xperia X1. Will there be two version of the phone (USA / International) or will there be one version with all the HSDPA network ( 850/ 900/ 1700/1900/2100)

A - The X1 will be the same both international and USA except for the calendar. It will have all the networks, including all the HSDPA.

i have called them several times and all of the answers were the same regarding the network. Now i'm just confused as to what the official xperia networks will be since no one has the phone yet.
