If you look at page 2, you'll see that the Xperia X1 comes in 2 flavors:
X1 & X1a.

X1 has quad-band GSM but tri-band UMTS (I,II,VIII)
X1a has quad-band GSM but tri-band UMTS (I,II,V)

This hasn't changed since the whitepaper. So I can say with reasonable accuracy that Expansys' claim that the X1 will have universal 3g band support is false. And looks like there is no support for USA T-mobile 3g.

Sorry if I burst anyone's bubble.

I would like you to clarify for me and everybody here the denominations for the GSM /3G/ UMTS bands: can you verify if I am correct, please.?
I =900 CELLULAR USA ATT - EU
II =1900 PCS USA ATT----EU
III=1800 PCS
IV= ?
V=850 CELLULAR USA ATT
VI=?
VII=1700 AWS USA T-MO---EU
VIII=2100 AWS USA T-MO --EU

I believe band IV is tmobile AWS
3G bands. 1700+2100 (you must have both to use it). I haven't given up hope.
