~~ Impressions of a swedish SE X1i ~~

Good:
- GOOD LOOKING!
- Feels good both in my hand and in my pocket.
- The panels are NOT slow unless there is much to load (like 39834758937458 shortcuts)
- Okey sound from the speaker compared to K750i and K800.
- The screen is so beautiful it almost makes me cry!
- Nice keyboard. Not as hard as you might think (concerning the size of the buttons).
- Very nice looking interface.
- Nice WLAN speed, downloading and browsing web pages.

Bad:
- A bit slow when it comes to system settings (compared to my K750i).
- There are still some stuff to do to make the interface look good ALL THE TIME.
- The panels are not optimal for usage. I feel a need to make my own panel.

Things that I haven't tested (or not enough) yet:
- The camera (pictures/video).
- Make a call (it's more fun to just play around with it ).
- Everything else that I haven't commented yet...

Can you elaborate?

Sure, I'll try

A bit slow when it comes to system settings (compared to my K750i).
Let's say that you want to turn off your "phone" to only use the "computer" options (for example browsing on the web), it takes a few seconds.
Compared to my k750i? Things like turning the sound on and off is not as fast, but more easy. You simply press a button to switch between sound, vibration, no sound on the X1, as you on the k750i hold a button (if you don't want to do it through the settings-menu). It's not MUCH more slow, just a second or two... Not that I care about it though

There are still some stuff to do to make the interface look good ALL THE TIME.
Let's say that you want to add a WLAN to your phone. First you have to enter the settings menu for Wi-Fi, then navigate to the tab where you can do all the settings. It's when you want to make almost any settings that you have to "leave" the panels. There are some settings made by the SPB Shell (downloaded from SE homepage) inside the panel, but not all the settings. I would like to see all the settings to have a fancy button instead of the simple ones that you find at the moment.

The panels are not optimal for usage. I feel a need to make my own panel.
Sure, you can add quite many programs to a panel, but I haven't found out how to put them where I want them to be. Still no big deal, just me wanting to configure stuff... I have also not found a way to have my own wallpaper... But I can't remember searching for one either

I hope I gave you some answers

Indeed, thanks for the response. Quick question though. On my Treo 650 there is a little switch at the top for turning off the ringer and turning it on (vibrate still works even when the switch for ringer is off, which is awesome)

Does the Xperia have something like? Or is turning off the sound software based?

You can't do anything when the phone is locked.
When it's unlocked you can use the volume buttons on the right uppers side of the phone to increase and decrease volume. You can also switch the sound between On, Vibration and Off. It's not as easy/quick as you describe it on your Treo, but it's quite easy anyway. And if you want to do it with your thumb on the screen, it's as easy as using the volume buttons.
