Not a bad review though I disagree somewhat with their conclusion:
"The Touch Pro, on the other hand, has a more polished interface, thanks to TouchFLO 3D, a dedicated YouTube application and an accelerometer which orients the screen automatically and can also be used for games".
I think the X1 interface is great and will be refined and optimised with future ROM updates plus touch flo can be installed on the x1, the accelerometer is hardly a dealbreaker since you can set a shortcut for it before entering a game etc and youtube works fine in Opera for now and I'm sure there'll be a youtube panel in the near future.
I'd personally rather have the higher res screen and better construction and think these are just nitpicks as I guess they have to remain objective and impartial. X1 is the phone for me, however and I've been enjoying using it since Saturday.
I also thought the hint at the panels succedding or failing due to third party support to be a bit of a cheap shot as I'm sure there are plenty of people working with the SDK and that there will be a strong community building over the next couple of months.
I agree that the camera is surprisingly good and appears to have better detail and polish than my N95 and touch focus can give a really nice DOF.
I've also found that the X1 plays large quicktime trailers in coreplayer with no problem at all which look great! I compared the Quantum of Solace trailer off quicktime with the one on the phone and the difference was spectacular. This was one of my main concerns and it's alleviated thanks to coreplayer. |
