Pinguino1, as always, this is pretty good analysis, and I do agree that higher resolution does make for better readability for small fonts.

I guess my question should be reframed as why do the fonts need to be that small? and even if it is resizable, how much bigger can they be set?

I do like small fonts on my screen, but as age progresses, I don't need to challenge myself everyday

The fonts ARE resizeable and they get pretty large, can't measure exactly tho.

Which parts of the screen can the font sizes be changed?

So far I found the size settings for the today screen.
OfficeMobile - just change the zoom factor.
In Opera you can preset the text size as well.

So there isn't an OS setting that sets the font size for menus, dialog boxes etc? Applications may have their own font size settings, that I understand. But what about universally?

Hi bloob,
It's similar to a PC. Windows XP has only 3 settings normal, small and
large. I rarely bother to change them. But it is not universal. It can not be.
It only changes menu fonts, icons & file titles etc. Applications allow
only limited font changes because that would destroy the layout of some
screens, but user input/edit in many cases is free to change like in Word you can
edit a document with almost no limit in the font size and style.

So I agree with you, we should have more freedom to do whatever we
want with OUR display. So we only can hope and expect the GOOD
developers understan this.

Having got my X1 at last, I can say for certainty that the font size isn't that small, and is in fact very readable on that incredible screen. So far, the only place where the fonts can get really small is in the Internet Explorer browser, so you may need to set the zoom level as needed.

Thanks Bloob, for confirming my theoretical analysis, because I still don't have my Xperia. I wouldn't had any problem with the browsers, because when the page loads I would like first to see the most of it, then i would zoom in the area of my interest.
