| I can't compare the two in lack of a P1 but I measured the height of the Capital Letters with a caliper rule: 1,1 mm HTH

| Wow, I couldnt believe that it was only 1.1mm. So I measured the text on my tilt (QVGA 2.8" screen). About 1mm. Same size. That is with the text size set to second from the smallest for me (it doesn't change the size of everything though). I guess 1mm sounds much smaller than it is. Dont just look at a ruler. Measure the size of text on your phone for comparison. |

Talking about small fonts it beats any other display with lower resolution That means Xperia has the luxury of small fonts and still be readable. Compare this pixels per sq. inch Xperia 96896 Great T Pro 88652 Good T HD 60202 Surprise? Who can tell me why? iPhone 27208 Hmm... More pixels more detail per inch DPI = pixels per linear inch Xperia 311 T Pro 298 T HD 219 iPhone 165 less dots per inch means bigger dot, means can't make small fonts Conclusion: Xperia can make small fonts more readable than small fonts in other phones. Making larger fonts is no problem. people with 20/20 vision should be able to read small text with no effort The better the DPI the more the detail an sharpness. I made some numbers and I found the font size of the WM menus are a bit bigger: 1.3mm (Who can tell?) If you don't mind boring numbers keep on reading: Xperia screen size is 65.28mm x 39.11mm in Pixels 800x480 Smallest font matrix is 8x8 pixels. Very hard to read. But possible. The MENUS fonts use a matrix of 16x16 pix. and line space of 16 pixels This means 25 lines on portrait mode and 15 on landscape mode if you make the math 65.28mm / 50 = 1.3mm or in landscape 39.11mm / 30 = 1.3mm some people feel they are a bit small, but the great majority don't seem to complain. Besides WM suports various font sizes. Last edited by Pinguino1 : 11-01-2008 at 04:58 PM. |
