I did some testing on some video clips. It turns out that for video clips with 24 frames per second, such as the Bond one, a resolution of 400x208 pixels will work fine in full screen mode without dropping any frames. I transcoded the Bond clip to that resolution and tried it in Coreplayer, and didn't drop a single frame :-)

The good news is that 400x208 gives a pretty nice video experience. If you want the full 800x480 that the display can handle, you will have to settle with 15 frames a second...

One could also hope that Sony Ericsson will try to optimize their player so that even higher resolutions are possible at full frame rate without frame dropouts.
