Default X1 in HK

I finally got the X1, my God is it beautiful.

The HK package comes with the following HK specific items:

1. a HKD$200 pre-paid SIM card from Three
2. 1 blank 4GB memory card.
3. CE-Star Suite 2.8 (chinese/japanese software) for Xperia
4. a standard HK/UK power plug PLUS a 2 prong round plug like they use in china (I think).

I am on Smartone-Vodafone, and everything worked like a charm. The Phone was able to detect whether I had HSDPA, and downloads have been quick and zippy.

A-GPS worked like a charm in HK (lots of re-enforced steel concrete buildings) and google maps was able to track my journey from Kowloon Bay to TST without any problems. Google Maps was even able to show my position when I was inside the smartone shop in TST.

I have had no problems reading the screen or the fonts which I think look so much better then the P1i.

It's a bit heavier then the P1i (I.e. you can feel the difference between the 2), but it's not an issue in my book.

If anyone is using Vista, I suggest you download the latest windows mobility center from microsoft first before you try and connect tho.

One thing you realize with any device like this is that you will almost never get instant response. However, the X1 speed wise is definitely better then expected.

The screen truly is awesome, I currently have the phone resting (keyboard open) in front of me, and viewing it at a 30 degree angle is extremely comfortable. it also rests quite solidly on the table without teetering over.

music and video testing next....

The firstbatch is all gone tho, second batch hopefully will get in the middle of the month.

From what I hear, the first batch is only black....

I don't read chinese, so I don't really care for the CE-Edit software

Yes, the first batches of X1 to be released were all black. The silver ones only started appearing on 30 October. So the mid-Nov batch may include some Silver ones then.

Edit - just called expansys-HK about my order and they still don't know when their stocks will arrive from UK.
