| I don't have X1 yet. I assume one can "turn off" the device when listening to the radio or music (I do a lot of that) and can continue to listen while the device is "off". Or if not turn off, at least minimize the power usage. Having it fully functional (with wifi/touchscreen panel and everything) is kinda wasteful to the battery if you're just listening. So - is it possible to turn off and continue to listen? Or if not, how far can one go to save battery life while listening to radio/music? Also, how does the actual listening stand up against the entire battery life? |

| Yes, you can turn the screen off while listening to music as long as you aren't using the phone's speaker, apparently. Whenever you press the power button instead of holding it, the screen is automatically turned off. Connections aren't affected by the screen turning off, meaning you can continue listening to streams. As for your other question, I haven't had a chance to stress the battery yet but from what I have seen in the past days the battery life seems to be far above average. Anyhow, you should probably not expect a huge difference in terms of battery life when listening to music/radio compared to similar WinMo devices. Last but not least, audio quality is pretty decent too. |

| PS: Tnx Tranquillity for the answer. You answered before I had a chance to post an answer to wickettaker. So here it goes ![]() Kind of. What I'm asking is if the phone does some power savings when you listen to music or radio. I reckon that the display light probably turns off. But does the display itself keep displaying the content (with the backlight off)? That might suggest that the phone stays awaken and thus eats unnecessary battery. Then say you press the power button at the top while listening. Does it shut off the music/radio when it goes to sleep or does it continue playing? Don't get me wrong, I've never had a WM device before (and neither did anyone I know). These sorts of stuff is just not apparent when you're looking to buy such a phone. My current phone appears to enter sleep mode and continues playing radio/music, so I'm simply asking if X1 does that also. And if it doesn't, what does it do? | Backlight and screen are different power saving methods, what I meant is that the screen completely turns off when you press the power button. In the power options, you can adjust backlight settings and automatic screen turning off which is set to one minute at default. The music keeps playing if the screen is turned off. However, I tried this with PocketMusic (pretty much Winamp for PPC), meaning other applications may have non-adjustable features which force the screen to stay on while the app is running etc. Once I can be bothered I'll convert my "best of" to .aac and introduce my X1 to 32gb of music. |
