| I read the Engadget review and they had some pretty harsh things to say about the OS. Though they did praise the entire product overall. Can any of the people who have had the X1 ("i" or "a", though engadget was reviewing the "a") confirm or deny the reported 20-30 second wait times? The full review is here: Engadget Mobile Review Xperia X1a

| I haven't experienced a single crash or long delay. I have however encountered a program or two where application crashes occurred, meaning Windows would continue functioning but the application would close. Opening the panel application takes around two seconds, whilst loading a "demanding" panel (SPB Mobile Shell panel, for example) takes somewhere between four to five seconds. Application speed is very fast, in my opinion. The only negative factor of the Xperia doesn't really need mentioning, which is that the device really isn't suitable for "quick" one handed usage scenarios, due to Windows Mobile. Although TouchFlo and SPB Mobile Shell can greatly enhance that. The touch pad takes getting used to, and the battery life isn't quite what I expected with heavy connection use. I won't comment on that, though, as I'm not very familiar with the battery life of similar devices. I have read about registry tweaks to lower disconnection time at idle which apparently, greatly increases battery life if you use push mail and don't mind longer time spans between mail updates. Apart from this, I really have nothing bad to say about the Xperia and would recommend you to thoroughly try out the device before buying it if you aren't familiar with Windows Mobile. |
