Default Yes sir!

Yup install it, make sure you update quick GPS everyday. It works hella good! The X1 locks on to satellites so fast. I had a nokia N95 and it took about 5 to 8 minutes to lock on.

Like I said nobody reads the posts here properly.

A-GPS by itself doesn't download a lot of data, a few kilobytes at most at anyone time, and you can lessen this amount further by using QuickGPS which is included in your X1. If you want to be really sure, you could always ask your Telco or the country you're visiting whether they charge for A-GPS data.

At worse, use GPS with flight mode on for those few moments when you need to check your location.

If your rental car comes with a GPS Satnav unit, then just use that and save yourself the trouble and worry about additional costs.

I believe the sattelites are better on the big roads... No matter which country.

That's because big roads and highways have clear line of sight to the sky... no big buldings or structures nearby to block the satellites.

The key is line of sight.... if you have a clear and wide expanse of sky above you, you will get a good lock.

I've used the X1 GPS under a clump of trees and it still got a good lock on 6 satellites within a minute.
