Default January 12 in the US?

Gizmodo now reporting that the release date in the US will be January 12. Hopefully that's because they've managed to cut a carrier deal of some sort... though nobody is saying that.

Wow...that'll pretty much make it a whole year I've been waitin' to get my hands on this phone! Hopefully AT&T will pick it up by then. Haven't Sony learned? $199 carrier subsidize smartphones are in (iPhone, G1, Storm, etc)!!! Get with the program, we're in Recession.

Yeah, I've been drooling over it since the first announcement. Possibly even enough to spring for 2x the data $$ over Sprint. Still, that HTC Touch Pro looks like it offers about 90% of the X1 for about 60% of the (total) cost. Tough to justify. Maybe not impossible to justify, but I really need to get my hands on both of them for a while.
