Default Contact list on X1

I was a little dissapointed when I found out that the contact list is not really usable without the stylus.
I expected from a phone that claims to be also usable with the finger, there would be a better contact-list, finger-friendly.

For example: I need person "Freddy". I need to push "F" on the right of the screen with my finger. It's not possible. Usually I touch the K or the G, or even worse.

Just scrolling down with my finger also doesn't work as it should. When I stop scrolling with my finger, the screen keeps going down a while. The contact I was looking for dissapears from the screen again.

So, the only way to use it good is imo. with the stylus.

Is there a replacement or something you can do to make it finger-friendly? (XperiaTweak doesn't have anything for it)

Contact list is just plain old Win Mo... so, yes. it isn't finger friendly...

Regardless of the fact that I still have to wait another week for my own X1, I've been searching the net for interesting programs I'd like to use on my future X1 (most of them finger friendly programs)...

To solve your problem you might want to check out these programs:

- iContact v0.8.1
- PocketCM

Personally I'm waiting for the release of TouchXperience (much more than just a finger friendly contact list), but seems like the developer is quite busy. He announced a beta version "too be released soon", but that was back in September ... :S But I think it will be worth the wait! Just look at the screenshots/video's!

Yeah, I found it a bit tricky getting to some things like that without the stylus at first, spb shell gives a screen that can display 15 contacts photos as well as an onscreen phone keypad to get to other contacts. I briefly tried touchflo but it kept locking up so I didn't try it for long and I don't know what it's like.

I use iContact, it's simple and looks not too fancy but it works well

You can also slide your finger over the little letters on the right side of the screen. Watch what happens.

As for stopping scrolling, you have to stop it by pressing the screen again when you want it to stop.

We won't get a fully finger-friendly Windows Mobile until WM 7 gets released next year, and I hope that we can upgrade the OS in the X1 then.

I just type the name I'm looking for on the keyboard and it finds it for me, not a big issue in my book....

Well, don't get your hopes up, because from what I've heard/read about WM7, supporting devices need a multi touch screen and an accelerometer, two things the X! doesn't have. Maybe we get an update from Win Mo 6.1 to Win Mo 6.5, it is confirmed there'll be one, but will SE let us?

WM7 does not require multitouch. It does not require touch at all. It will work with non touch, touch, multi touch, no keyboard, keyboard, whatever. And no it will not require an accelerometer. That would be silly to require features like that.

And screw updates from SE. I'll wait on a cooked WM7 ROM.
