Default Are the X1a's ok?

What with the recall from best buy and sony style, are the x1a's ok to buy online? Has anyone bought them on ebay or another site? Are they in stock anywhere?

My tilt just broke. So I might go ahead and get the X1 now. I wanted to wait and save a little but of course I will be unhappy with a new X1.

Perhaps it was only ebay that had them. I thought some people were already getting them though. Where are they getting them from?

Fry's had them at launch but sold out. ebay is all x1i's. the x1i will work on 3g in a lot of places, but it's just a risk since you lose warranty (usually), and you might be/go to an 850 area. still tempting.

i personally worry about firmware updates for the a/i if i get the international. maybe they're doing crazy **** for ours, who knows?

Yeah, I am tempted to just get the X1i. I have t-mo right now so the band would not matter but i am considering going to att this summer. I think Detroit area has 850 3g and i will be spending the summer there. Not sure about losing the warranty though. How do you mean?

As far as firmware updates, I plan on flashing a third party ROM from xda-developers immediately.

You will still get over the phone support to LIVE people that speak ENGLISH, the xperia has a dedicated line with really knowledgeable and nice people. They even had a device on hand to walk me through everything. As far as the other physical warranty goes, you would probably have to send it into SE UK to get it repaired. But I've already seen X1 parts on ebay, so I'm sure you could probably do the repairs yourself if need be. Also I have ATT and hsdpa reception is OK but not stable. Sometimes it goes from H to Gprs to Edge and back to H, so if hsdpa is important to you, then you may want to try and get ahold of a x1a.
TBH, the 3rd party roms right now seem really buggy, all of them try to implement touchflo3d into it, which is something i dont use/ hate. If you want a speedier device go to the thread about speeding up your x1 (8x speed or something ridiculous) it works for the most part. Right now im fiddling with the pagepool size on the generic UK rom. Any experience with this?

Really? This one seems pretty good and stable:
[13.12.08] Touch-IT Xperience v1.0 (Build 20757) - xda-developers
A few minor issues. Im not flashing custom only to make it faster. Its also a principal thing. I agree, I don't like TF3d either. I will just disable it. I don't care for panels either though, so I like that the above ROM does not include them (though they can be installed after the fact with a cab i believe). I have never messed with the page pool though. Sorry that I cannot be of any assistance. I still dont get what is ideal. Too little is bad but too much is also bad. I dont get why dynamic is not the best.

The X1a has just been released here in Australia with no noticeable problems at all.
