Default Problems with Camera

I recently got an X1 and I discovered a "bug" in a Camera application. I would like to encourage X1 users here to try to replicate and report, so I'd know whether I'm the only one with this or not.

How to replicate:

Scenario no. 1 (Control Scenario):
  • press the shutter button to switch on the Camera
  • place your X1's Camera about 10 cm (4 in) from an LCD display that shows white color. You'd like to take a focused picture of it.
  • press the shutter button half way to focus. You should see wierd rainbowy colors. That tells you the focus is ok
  • press the shutter button all the way. X1 takes a picture and everything is alright.

Scenario no. 2 (Problematic Scenario):
  • you should quit the Camera app now and return to your favourite panel
  • once again open the Camera app by pressing the shutter button
  • take a picture of something that's NOT complex (for example place a hand over the camera to make the picture black)
  • after the (black) picture is taken, press the shutter button to return to the camera (but DON'T shut the Camera application off!)
  • then, try taking a focused picture of an LCD screen, exactly as described in the 1st Scenario

As I complete the 2nd Scenario, my X1 freezes when "Saving" the photo. It stays like that for about a minute or two and then either closes the Camera app or signals that everything went OK. But regardless, the photo is not saved correctly.

In the 1st Scenario, the picture of the LCD was taken and saved correctly, but in the 2nd scenario it was not. When I took a closer look at those three photos, I found out that the second (black) and the third (corrupted) have the same size in bytes. It could be that the Camera App creates a buffer to store the first photo, but fails to enlarge that buffer, when the second photo is more complex (and thus takes more storage). That leads to the freeze and then the corrupted second photo.

Is this reproducable by any of you? Or is my X1 just in need of a Firmware Upgrade?

PS: Pictures that I've taken... Slightly different results. Third picture was actually taken correctly, but the fourth one failed.

(I hope the hosting server won't complain)
